Centering Prayer Workshop

Do you seek to rest your mind and heart in God's loving presence? How would it feel to sit together in silence, enjoying each other's company? Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that opens us to the gift of contemplative prayer, allowing us to experience God's presence within.  Join us for an introductory workshop where we will explore and practice Centering Prayer together. This program includes contemplative practice, study, and support.

Bob Kirkham Jr.

Spiritual Director
In 2016, I was introduced to Centering Prayer, and it profoundly changed me. In 2019, I was commissioned to present the 'Introductory Centering Prayer Workshops' through Contemplative Outreach. Since then, I’ve led or co-led several workshops, currently facilitate a Centering Prayer group at Hope Center, and have participated in numerous Centering Prayer retreats in California and Colorado.
One of the first changes I noticed from practicing Centering Prayer was a quieting of my negative thoughts each morning. Over time, my thinking, discerning, responding vs reaction, and listening, are enhanced in life by simply sitting with God in silence, “letting go” of thoughts, moving from head to heart, where God dwells.
Centering Prayer has cast new light and depth of meaning on all my prayer practices and experiences, deepening my relationship with the living Christ within me leading to personal transformation.
I am a Spiritual Director and a member of the Pacific Southwest Conference of Spiritual Directors and the Association of Covenant Spiritual Directors of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and, Spiritual Directors International (SDI). I also have two adult children, three grandchildren, and two exotic birds!
